69kV Wood to Steel Rebuild Project
Aquawolf provided design services and construction support to San Diego Gas and Electric on a fire-hardening project to rebuild an aging 69kV transmission line in southern San Diego County. This project replaced approximately 10 miles of existing wood poles with both direct buried steel poles and heavy-duty self-supporting steel poles on drilled pier and micropile foundations. The poles supported transmission conductors, along with distribution and communication underbuild. Aquawolf was responsible for all design activities related to the custom engineered steel poles and drilled pier foundations. The project team also coordinated with multiple vendors and contractors throughout the procurement and constructions phases of the job to ensure client specifications were satisfied.
